1.16. Control of the transmission

Install the five-step mechanical or four-stage automatic transmission on cars.
Operate the mechanical transmission according to the scheme of switchings applied on the handle of its lever. In neutral situation the lever automatically is installed in the direction of inclusion III or IV transfers from which it can be moved respectively forward or back. For inclusion of I or II transfers move the lever to the left against the stop and then move respectively forward or back. For inclusion of the V transfer move the lever to the right against the stop and forward.
For inclusion of transfer of a backing move the lever to the right against the stop, and then back.

Prevention
Include transfer of a backing only at completely stopped car.

The robotic Durashift EST transmission (fig. 1.11) is the advanced five-step mechanical transmission with the automatic mode allowing to switch transfers without use of a pedal of coupling. In comparison with the automatic transmission the Durashift EST transmission provides more dynamic dispersal and considerable economy of fuel during the movement in traffic jams.

Fig. 1.11. Lever of the selector of control of the robotic Durashift EST transmission

On the lever of the selector of control of the robotic transmission the following designations are put:
"N" – a neutral. Launch of the engine is possible only if the lever of the selector is in situation "N";
"D" – the movement by the forward course. Squeeze out a pedal of a brake and transfer the lever from situation "N" to situation "D". In this situation the transmission passes into the automatic mode. After a brake pedal otpuskaniye the car begins to move with a small speed. To start the movement press an accelerator pedal.
When using situation "+" or "-" in the automatic mode the mode of manual gear shifting will be chosen and on the liquid-crystal display there will be a transfer chosen at present;
"R" – a backing. You transfer the lever to this situation only after a full stop of the car.

The automatic transmission has four transfers for advance and one transfer of a backing. Inclusion of each transfer happens automatically depending on position of the lever of the selector of control of the transmission, the speed of the car and the provision of a pedal of an accelerator.

Note
In the period of a running in of the new car or right after connection of the rechargeable battery (after its shutdown or replacement) gear shifting can happen not so smoothly, as usual. It does not testify to malfunction: after several automatic gear shiftings process of switching will become smooth.

Besides automatic control mode, also the manual mode at which the driver can switch independently quickly transfers is provided, moving the selector lever forward or back.

Note
Unlike the mechanical transmission an automatic box, being in manual control mode, allows the driver to switch transfers, without releasing an accelerator pedal.

Fig. 1.12. Lever of the selector of control of the automatic transmission: 1 – button of inclusion of the OVERDRIVE mode; 2 – transfer inclusion blocking button; 3 – lever handle; 4 – cap; 5 – cut of automatic control mode; 6 – scale of automatic control mode

The lever of the selector is located on a floor tunnel in the same place, as a control lever the mechanical transmission. On an overlay of a tunnel of a floor scales of manual and automatic control modes are put. On the handle 3 (fig. 1.12) of the lever there is a button 2 blocking of inclusion of transfer.
On a scale of the 6th automatic control mode the following designations are put:
"P" – the parking. In this situation the transmission is blocked not to allow movement of the parked car. If the lever of the selector is in this situation, it is possible to launch the engine;
"R" – a backing. You transfer the lever to this situation only after a full stop of the car;

Prevention
Never transfer the selector lever to situation "P" (parking) or "R" (backing) during the movement of the car! It will lead to breakage of the transmission.

"N" – a neutral. At this position of the lever in the transmission any transfer is not included. This situation is used during long stops, for example in traffic jams;

Prevention
Never transfer the selector lever to situation "N" (neutral) during the movement! At the same time you can incidentally move the lever to situation "P" (parking) or "R" (backing) that will lead to breakage of the transmission. Besides braking will become the engine impossible.

Useful tips
Not to lose control over the car, always you hold a leg on a brake pedal if the lever is in situation "N" (neutral), and also when moving the lever to this situation.
If the car is on a bias, then at launch of the engine the lever of the selector needs to be installed in situation "P" (parking), but not "N" (neutral).

"D" – the movement by the forward course. This basic position of the lever of the selector in which it is the most part of time at the movement. At the same time the automatic transmission chooses transfer, optimum for this speed and acceleration of the car. At the movement on abrupt descent the lowering transfer can automatically join to provide more effective braking with the engine.
For movement of the lever of the selector from situation "P" (parking) in situation "R" (backing) press 2 blocking the button, at the same time pressing a brake pedal.

Note
The special device of blocking will not allow to transfer the selector lever from situation "P" (parking) to any other situation if the pedal of a brake is not held in the pressed situation.

For further moving of the lever to provisions "N" (neutral) and "D" (the movement by the forward course) does not need to be pressed the button of blocking. For the return movement of the lever from situation "D" (the movement by the forward course) in situation "N" (neutral) it is not necessary to press the button of blocking, and for further moving of the lever to provisions "R" (backing) and "P" (parking) the button should be pressed.

Preventions
Do not press the button blocking at each movement of the lever of the selector from one situation in another. It will become a habit, and you can transfer the lever to situation "P" (parking) or "R" (backing) during the movement of the car that will lead to breakage of the transmission.
Beginning the movement, do not press an accelerator pedal when you transfer the selector lever from situation "P" (parking) or "N" (neutral) to any other situation. It is dangerous as the car can start unexpectedly sharply forward or back.

At the included ignition on the display of a combination of devices designation of position of the selector (the automatic mode of switching) or number of the included transfer (the manual mode of switching) is highlighted.
Irrespective of whether the car moves or it is not mobile, for the choice of the manual mode of gear shifting move the selector lever from situation "D" (the movement with the forward course) to a cut of the mode of manual gear shifting. In manual control mode it is possible to switch by the transmission quickly transfers, moving the selector lever forward or back, and without releasing an accelerator pedal.
To include higher transfer, move the selector lever in the direction of the sign "+" forward and release the lever. To include lower transfer, move the lever towards the sign "-" back and release.

Preventions
In manual control mode the transmission gear shifting on higher transfer does not happen automatically. The driver has to define independently the moment of inclusion of higher transfer according to road conditions. In this case it is necessary to watch that the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine did not exceed the most admissible value (the arrow of a tachometer did not come into a red zone of a scale).
Bystry double movement of the lever of the selector back in the direction of the sign "-" allows to miss one transfer when switching to the lowest transfers. For example, to switch from the III transfer to I or from the IV transfer to II. As in this case sharp braking by the engine can lead to loss of coupling of wheels with a paving, it is necessary to switch to lower transfers carefully, considering the speed of the movement of the car.

Notes
In manual control mode as the transmission it is possible to choose only one of four transfers of the forward course. For the movement or the parking move with a backing the selector lever to a cut 5 (see fig. 1.12) the automatic mode and then to situation "R" (backing) or "P" (parking) respectively.
For providing necessary traction dynamic characteristics and safety of the car the automatic transmission can not switch to higher transfer at an insufficient speed of the car even if the driver will translate the selector lever in the direction of the sign "+" forward. Similar to the transmission can not pass to the lowest transfer at a high speed of the movement even if the driver will translate the selector lever in the direction of the sign "-" back to prevent excessive increase in frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine.
In manual control mode the transmission at reduction of speed of the car switching to lower transfers happens automatically. At a car stop the I transfer automatically joins.
To facilitate start-off from the place on a slippery covering, translate the selector lever in the direction of the sign "+" forward. At the same time in a box the II transfer will join at once that will provide smooth start-off on the slippery road. Again to include the I transfer, translate the selector lever in the direction of the sign "-" back.
Move the selector lever to cuts of the manual mode and upon transition from the manual mode in automatic smoothly, without excessive efforts. The sharp and strong movements it is possible to damage the lever.

In case of the category of the rechargeable battery or malfunction of electric equipment for unblocking of the automatic transmission (movement of the lever of the selector) execute the following operations from situation "P".
1. Hook the screw-driver and remove a cap 4 (see fig. 1.12) near the selector lever.
2. Press the blocking rychazhok located under a cap, and move the selector lever from situation "P".
3. Establish into place a cap.
OVERDRIVE mode. The key of switching off of the OVERDRIVE mode is located on the handle of the lever of the selector of the automatic transmission and allows the driver to exclude switching of AKP to the IV transfer that gives the chance to the car to become more dynamic during the movement at a high speed or in situations when frequent gear shifting with III on IV is necessary. Besides, the lever of the AKP selector can be installed in situation "1" or "2" for ensuring the safe movement on biases and snow-covered roads.
