The generator represents rather difficult and high-precision unit. Its dismantling, troubleshooting and assembly requires the special equipment. Therefore if you have no sufficient skills of similar works, at a generator exit out of operation we recommend to address for its repair in a special workshop or to replace the generator assembled.

It will be required to you: face heads "on 13" and "on 24", screw-drivers with flat and crosswise edges, small beards, a soldering iron, a stripper for the rotor bearing, the hammer, a tester.

1. Remove the generator from the car (see. "Removal and installation of the generator").

2. Mark the mutual provision of details of the generator.

3. Clamp a generator pulley in a vice, previously having enclosed under it laying or having reeled up an old belt, turn off a nut of fastening of a pulley.	4. Take a generator pulley from a vice and remove a pulley from a rotor shaft.

Note The pulley of the generator is recorded from a provorachivaniye on a rotor shaft only at the expense of friction forces after an inhaling of a nut of fastening by the required moment. The spline in connection is absent.

5. Turn off a nut …	6. … and, having hooked the screw-driver, remove the generator plug.

7. Turn out four coupling screws …	8. … having hooked the screw-driver, remove a forward cover of the generator and take an anchor.

9. Remove a remote ring from a rotor shaft.	10. Unsolder three conclusions of a winding of the stator from the vypryamitelny block and take the stator.

Good advice At tap it is more convenient to use the special device for removal of the melted solder.

11. From within a cover from contact rings turn out three screws of fastening and remove the brush holder assembled with the vypryamitelny block and the regulator of tension.

Note Conclusions of the stator have to be already unsoldered from the vypryamitelny block in the course of removal of the stator (see item 10).

12. Examine a generator cover from the drive. If at rotation of the bearing the side play between holders, a rift or jamming of an internal holder is felt, protective cuffs are damaged or there are lubricant dribble traces, replace the bearing. If cracks in a cover, especially in places of fastening of the generator are found, replace a cover.

13. For replacement of the forward bearing of a rotor turn out four screws of fastening of a clamping plate …	14. … also remove a plate.

15. Vypressuyte the bearing from a cover.	16. A mandrel of suitable diameter press the new bearing in a cover, putting effort to an external holder of the bearing.

17. Check ease of rotation of the bearing from contact rings. If at rotation of the bearing the side play between holders, a rift or jamming of a holder is felt, protective cuffs are damaged or there are lubricant dribble traces, replace the bearing. If cracks in a cover are found, replace a cover new.

18. Press the bearing from a shaft of a rotor and establish new, putting effort to an internal holder of the bearing a mandrel of suitable diameter.	19. Check a tester rotor winding resistance, having connected it to contact rings. Resistance has to make about 3-5 Ohms. If the tester shows infinity, so in windings the break and needs to be replaced a rotor.

20. Check short circuit of a winding of a rotor for "weight". For this purpose connect one probe of a tester to a polar tip of a rotor, and another serially to contact rings. The measured resistance has to be infinitely big, otherwise replace a rotor.	21. Check stator windings for break, serially measuring by a tester resistance between all conclusions of windings. If the measured resistance strives for infinity, it is necessary to replace the stator.

22. Connect tester probes to the case of the stator and serially to each conclusion of windings. The measured resistance has to be very big (to strive for infinity). Otherwise replace the stator.	23. Check the vypryamitelny block. For this purpose connect one probe of a tester to a conclusion of a phase winding of the stator, and the second probe to an air radiator of positive diodes. Interchanging the position of tester probes, measure resistance. If indications of a tester are identical in both cases, the vypryamitelny block is faulty and demands replacement.

24. Similarly check negative diodes.

25. Check a vystupaniye of brushes in a free state. If the size appears less than 3 mm, replace brushes or the brush holder assembled.

Note Replacement of brushes will require tap of their wires from brush holder conclusions.

26. Collect the generator as it should be, the return to removal, having oriented covers of the generator and the case of the stator on earlier made tags.

Note Before installation of a cover from contact rings of a rotor drown brushes and record them in such situation, having inserted into a cover opening a pin (for example, the unbent office paper clip). After assembly take a pin.
