4.4.4. Replacement of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and its tension roller

According to the recommendation of manufacturer the belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism needs to be replaced through 60 thousand km of a run or each 6 years of operation (depending on what will come earlier). Besides replace a camshaft drive belt if at survey you find:
– oil traces on any surface of a belt;
– wear tracks of a gear surface, a crack, undercuts, folds and peeling of fabric from rubber;
– cracks, folds, deepenings or cambers on an external surface of a belt;
– a razlokhmachivaniye or stratification on face surfaces of a belt.

Prevention
The belt with traces of engine oil on any its surface needs to be replaced surely as oil quickly destroys rubber. The reason of hit of oil on a belt (usually this violation of tightness of epiploons of cranked and distributive shaft) should be eliminated immediately.

Note
You carry out work on a viewing ditch, a platform or whenever possible on the elevator.

It will be required to you: special devices for blocking distributive and cranked shaft and a tension roller of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism, a face key "on 10", cap keys or face heads "on 8", "on 13", keys "on 18" and TORX E8.
1. Lift a forward part of the car and establish on a reliable support. Remove the right forward wheel (see. "Replacement of a wheel").
2. Remove the right forward flap (see. "Removal and installation of mudguards of wheels and flaps").
3. Remove an engine mudguard (see. "Removal and installation of a mudguard of the engine").
4. Take off a belt of the drive of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering, having knifed it.
5. Take off a belt of the drive of auxiliary units, having knifed it.

Note
According to recommendations of manufacturer belts of drives of auxiliary units and the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering for removal should be knifed then they become useless. This results from the fact that both belts even after removal without damage are not subject to reuse as are calculated only on one-time extension at putting on on pulleys (adjustment of a tension of belts is not provided). Besides, replacement of belts is regulated after the certain run or term of operation therefore when replacing a belt of the drive of auxiliary units at the same time it is necessary to replace also a belt of the drive of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering.

6. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a broad tank …
7. … having hooked the screw-driver a clamp, remove a broad tank from an arm and take him aside.
8. Uncover a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders").
9. Turn out the cap located in a forward part of the block of cylinders on the right and screw in the opened opening the fixing core against the stop in a bent shaft. Carefully turn a bent shaft for a bolt of fastening of its pulley until a shaft stop the fixing core.
10. Fix camshafts from a provorachivaniye, having installed the fixing plate in special grooves in a back part of camshafts.
11. Turn out a bolt of a pulley of a bent shaft.

Good advice
The bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft will be tightened the big moment. To record a bent shaft from a provorachivaniye, include the V transfer, press and hold a brake pedal (it the assistant has to do).

12. Take a bolt …
13. … also remove a pulley of a bent shaft.
14. Holding the screw-driver a pulley of the water pump from a provorachivaniye, weaken an inhaling of four bolts, serially rearranging the screw-driver. Then finally turn out bolts …
15. … also remove a pulley of the water pump.
16. Turn out nine bolts of fastening of the top cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and uncover.

Note
Openings of fastening of the top cover are so located.

17. Turn out three bolts of the lower cover of the gas-distributing mechanism …
18. … also uncover.
19. Remove the right support of the power unit (see. "Replacement of support of a suspension bracket of the power unit").
20. Turn out two side bolts of fastening of an arm of the right support of a suspension bracket of the power unit …
21. … similarly turn out two forward bolts and remove an arm.
22. Weaken a tension of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism for what a finger or the screw-driver, overcoming effort of a spring, turn clockwise a mobile level of a roller until combination of openings in it and an arm of a roller. Insert a pin of suitable diameter into an opening, record a roller …
23. … also take off a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism.

Prevention
Do not turn a bent shaft at the taken-off belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism as pistons will damage valves.

24. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a tension roller and remove it.

Note
If you disassemble the gas distribution mechanism drive only for replacement of a tension roller, the belt of the drive can be not taken off.

25. Establish a roller as it should be, the return to removal, previously having recorded it to small beards.
Put on a new belt the cogged pulley of the final camshaft. Pull the leading branch of a belt and put on it the cogged pulley of the inlet camshaft. Further pull the leading branch of a belt and put on it the cogged pulley of a bent shaft. Get the conducted belt branch for a tension roller.
26. Establish the lower and top covers of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and a pulley of a bent shaft. Tighten a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft in two stages:
The 1st — tighten a bolt the moment of 45 N · m (4,5 kgfs · l);
The 2nd — tighten a bolt on 90 °.
27. Remove the fixing plate of camshafts.
28. Turn out the fixing bolt of a bent shaft from an opening in the block of cylinders.
29. Include neutral transfer in the transmission, turn a bent shaft on two turns and stop it, without bringing to VMT about 20 °.
30. Screw the fixing bolt in an opening of the block of cylinders and carefully tighten a bent shaft before fixing by a bolt.
31. Install the fixing plate on camshafts. If adaptation managed to be installed without difficulties, the belt of the drive of a gas-distributing shaft is established correctly. If adaptation did not manage to be installed (gas distribution phases are displaced), take off a belt, install the fixing adaptation and repeat installation of a belt as it is described above.
32. If the belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism is established correctly, remove the fixing plate from camshafts, turn out the fixing bolt from an opening in the block of cylinders, establish into place a cap of this opening, having tightened its moment 20 N · m (2,0 kgfs · l), also establish all earlier removed details as it should be, the return to removal.
