5.12. Removal and installation of the engine

Remove the engine assembled with the transmission, lowering it from a motor compartment down. The elevator is for this purpose necessary to lift above a forward part of the car. In garage conditions in the absence of the elevator the jack, and also strong and rather high support will be required to establish on them the raised forward part of the car that it will give the chance to take from under it the engine lowered on a garage floor.

Good advice
The engine is very heavy therefore we recommend to remove it with assistants.

Prevention
At removal and installation of the engine having big weight use only completely serviceable load-lifting mechanisms calculated on the corresponding loading and especially carefully control correctness and reliability of accession of cables, a traverse, etc. to transport eyes of the engine.

1. For convenience of work remove a cowl (see. "Removal and installation of a cowl").
2. Reduce pressure in a power supply system (see. "Pressure decrease in a power supply system").
3. Disconnect wires from the rechargeable battery and remove it from the car (see. "Removal and installation of the rechargeable battery").
4. Remove the airbringing sleeve and the air filter (see. "Removal and installation of the air filter").
5. Remove the pipeline of system of ventilation of a case of the engine (see. "Cleaning of system of ventilation of a case").
6. Remove an engine mudguard (see. "Removal and installation of a mudguard of the engine").
7. Merge liquid from the cooling system (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").
8. If you remove the engine for repair, merge oil from an oil case (see. "Replacement of oil in the engine and an oil filter").
9. Turn out the fixing bolt and separate a block of a plait of wires of a motor compartment.
10. Remove the shelf of the rechargeable battery and an arm of the shelf (see. "Removal and installation of an arm of the shelf of fastening of the rechargeable battery").
11. Disconnect two "mass" wires from a body arm, having turned out a bolt of their fastening.
12. Remove a broad tank of the cooling system from body arms, disconnect from it hoses (see. "Removal and installation of a broad tank").
13. Disconnect a tank of the hydraulic booster of steering from an arm, having turned out a fastening bolt, and take a tank aside.
14. Remove drives of forward wheels (see. "Removal and installation of drives of forward wheels").
15. Take off a conditioner compressor drive belt (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units").
16. Take off a belt of the drive of auxiliary units (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of auxiliary units").
17. Remove a cooling system radiator (see. "Replacement of a radiator of the cooling system").

Note
If the car is not equipped with the conditioner, the radiator can be not removed. It is enough to disconnect the taking-away hose from the lower branch pipe of a radiator.

18. Turn out bolts of fastening of the compressor of the conditioner. Without disconnecting pipelines from the compressor, take it aside and fix in any available way (for example, having bound a wire).
19. Disconnect the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering from the engine (see. "Replacement of the pump of the hydraulic booster of steering"), and then, without disconnecting from it pipelines, take aside and fix the same as fixed the conditioner compressor.
20. Having squeezed clamps, separate the fuel supply pipeline …
21. … and adsorber purge pipeline.
22. Disconnect the taking-away hose of a heater of salon, having turned its clamp counterclockwise.
23. Having squeezed passatizham collars and having shifted them on hoses, disconnect the steam discharge hose bringing a hose of a heater of salon …
24. … and the bringing radiator hose from the taking-away branch pipe of a water shirt of the engine located under the ignition coil.
25. Disconnect the pipeline of the vacuum amplifier of brakes from an inlet pipe.

Note
The throttle knot is removed for descriptive reasons. At removal of the engine it is not required to dismantle it.

26. Unfasten seven latches of a cover of a casing of the mechanism of gear shifting and uncover.
27. Take tips of covers of cables from arms on the transmission (see. "Replacement of cables of the drive of control of the transmission") …
28. … also remove tips of cables from gear shifting mechanism levers.
29. Having hooked the screw-driver …
30. … take a spring clamp of an adapter of the working cylinder of a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling …
31. … also disconnect from a coupling case an adapter together with the coupling switching off hydraulic actuator pipeline.
32. Take the holder of a hose of the pipeline of a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling from an arm on the transmission and take the pipeline aside.
33. Establish a reliable support under the engine and remove a back support of a suspension bracket of the power unit (see. "Replacement of support of a suspension bracket of the power unit").
34. Fix slings of the load-lifting mechanism for a lobby …
35. … and back transport eyes also pull slings.
36. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the left support of a suspension bracket of the power unit to an arm on the transmission.
37. Remove the right support of a suspension bracket of the power unit (see. "Replacement of support of a suspension bracket of the power unit").
38. Double-check whether all wires, hoses and hinged knots are disconnected from the power unit.
39. Remove a support from under the engine and lower the power unit down, on a floor.
40. You will hang out a forward part of the car (lift the car on the elevator) on height sufficient for extraction from under the car of the power unit, and establish reliable support under a body.
41. Take the power unit from under the car.
42. Install the engine and all removed knots and details in the sequence, the return to removal, taking into account the following:
– before installation of the power unit clear a tap of a rust carving openings of fastening of its support;
– surely replace laying of a katkollektor new;
– at connection of wires and pipelines carefully you watch correctness of their arrangement in a motor compartment, without allowing contact with the heating-up and moving elements of the power unit.
After installation of the engine execute the following.
1. Fill in oil in the engine (see. "Replacement of oil in the engine and an oil filter").
2. Fill in oil in the transmission (see. "Replacement of oil in the transmission").
3. Fill in cooling liquid (see. "Replacement of cooling liquid").
4. Adjust the drive of control of the transmission (see. "Adjustment of the drive of control of the transmission").
5. Remove air from a coupling switching off hydraulic actuator (see. "Pumping of a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling").
6. Launch the engine and check whether there is no leak of fuel, oil and cooling liquid. Check oil pressure. Listen to the engine: it has to work exactly, without extraneous noises and knocks.
