The fulfilled gases are taken away from the engine through the final collector united by c converter of the fulfilled gases (katkollektor), additional and main mufflers (fig. 5.13).

Additional and main mufflers with the bellow valve are executed by a uniform element.

Note On the Ford Fusion cars with the 1,4 l engine the additional muffler is not installed.

On a katkollektor two sensors of concentration of oxygen are installed: diagnostic and main (managing director).

Between a head of the block of cylinders and a flange of a final collector the sealing metalreinforced laying, the general with an inlet pipe is established.

The reception pipe of the additional muffler is connected through the metalreinforced laying to a katkollektor.

For reduction of transfer of vibration from the power unit on system of release and a body in a reception pipe of the additional muffler the vibrocompensating corrugated bellow valve in a metal braid is built in.

Katkollektor is fixed by nuts on hairpins of a head of the block of cylinders and in addition recorded by an arm on the engine.

Elements of system of release are suspended to a body on three identical in a form, but rubber pillows, different in rigidity …

… and one original pillow of back fastening of the main muffler.

For protection of the engine and the basis of a body against heating elements of system of production of the fulfilled gases before a katkollektor over additional and main mufflers installed steel thermoscreens. Besides in a motor compartment the additional heat-insulating guard protecting the steering mechanism from an overheat is established.

The system of production of the fulfilled gases does not demand special service. Rather periodically to check reliability of an inhaling of threaded connections and an integrity of pillows of a suspension bracket. In case of damage of elements of system, through corrosion or a progar they are replaced.

Good advice Periodically check system of production of the fulfilled gases. At the increased noise level from system of release check its tightness. For this purpose launch the engine and examine all system. Having run a hand over places of possible leak, not concerning knots, you feel leak of gases at once. If necessary replace the rusted and burned through knots.

Preventions Before repair let's system of release cool down as in operating time of the engine it heats up to high temperature. The fulfilled gases are poisonous, poisoning with them occurs imperceptibly therefore before launch of the engine in a garage surely open gate!

Good advice At impossibility to replace defective knot new it is possible to restore temporarily its working capacity, having imposed a metal patch on the damaged place and having fixed it by collars or a wire. Under a patch it is recommended to enclose the sheet of asbestos. Besides, in shops of auto parts there are on sale special sets for restoration of knots of system of production of the fulfilled gases by means of which it is possible to eliminate temporarily damages of system to reach to car service or a garage.
