5.9.3. Replacement of oil scraper caps

External sign of wear of oil scraper caps is short-term emergence of blue smoke from an exhaust pipe after launch of the engine, and also when braking by the engine after the long movement under loading. At the same time constant smoking usually is not observed. Indirect signs — the increased oil consumption in the absence of external leaks and greasy electrodes of spark plugs.
If there is an opportunity to use a source of compressed air with pressure of 7-10 kgfs/cm2, then it is possible to replace oil scraper caps without removal from the engine of a head of the block of cylinders. If there is no source of compressed air, it is necessary to remove a head of the block of cylinders as on this engine fixing of valves the mechanical devices inserted in a candle opening is impossible.

It will be required to you: all tools necessary for removal of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders"), a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism"), camshafts (see. "Replacement of camshafts"), and also tweezers (or the magnetized screw-driver) for extraction of crackers from plates of springs of valves, the device 1 (fig. 5.6) for compression of springs of valves, the device 2 for air supply in a candle opening (it is possible to make of a faulty spark plug) …

… or inertial stripper of oil scraper caps. The shown stripper on other end has a mandrel for a napressovka of caps. In the absence of such stripper passatizh for removal of caps and a mandrel of suitable diameter for their napressovka on the directing plugs of valves will be required.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Turn out all spark plugs (see. "Replacement and service of spark plugs").
3. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in VMT (see. "Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in the provision of VMT of a step of compression"). This situation corresponds to NMT of pistons of the 2nd and 3rd cylinders.

Note
If the piston is not installed in NMT, when giving in the cylinder of compressed air the bent shaft of the engine will be turned and the car can move a little (by the included transfer).

4. Uncover a head of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders").
5. Take off a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (see. "Replacement of a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism").
6. Remove camshafts (see. "Replacement of camshafts").

7. Remove pushers of 1 (fig. 5.7) of valves of the 2nd cylinder.
8. Install devices for removal of springs of valves on the 2nd cylinder of the engine, as shown in fig. 5.6.
9. Give to a candle opening of the 2nd cylinder compressed air under pressure of 7–10 kgfs/cm2.
10. Squeeze adaptation a spring 4 (see fig. 5.7) one of valves and take out from a plate 3 springs by means of tweezers or the magnetized screw-driver two crackers 2. Then remove adaptation.

Prevention
After extraction of crackers the valve is kept in the top situation only by air pressure. Do not disconnect pressure before the end of replacement of an oil scraper cap and installation of all details, otherwise the valve will fall in the cylinder. For its extraction it will be required to remove a head of the block of cylinders.

11. Remove a plate 3 springs and a spring 4.

If at the same time you remove plates and springs from several valves, the removed details should be installed on those valves from which they are removed.

12. Press an oil scraper cap 5 from the directing valve plug. For this purpose establish a grip of an inertial stripper of oil scraper caps on a cap and sharply strike brisk the grip plug. Then also sharply strike brisk adaptation handle, having pressed thereby a cap from the plug.
13. In the absence of an inertial stripper of caps remove a cap a special stripper of tick-borne type or a passatizhama, putting effort strictly up and not turning a cap not to damage the directing valve plug.

Prevention
Do not remove a cap, hooking it from two parties screw-drivers. The directing plug which the cap is put on is manufactured of metal ceramics, and its edge easily breaks away.

14. Before installation of new oil scraper caps we recommend to remove from them springs, otherwise caps can be damaged when they pass through pro-points under crackers on valves. If the plastic adjusting plug is included in the package of new caps, the spring can be not removed. In this case put on the plug a valve core.

15. Oil an internal surface of an oil scraper cap engine and advance a cap on a valve core to the directing plug.     
16. Establish a mandrel for a cap press fitting. Easy blows quickly to a mandrel press a cap against the stop. In the absence of special adaptation it is possible to pick up a cylindrical mandrel of suitable diameter and to napressovyvat through it a cap easy blows of the hammer to a mandrel.

Good advice
As a mandrel it is possible to use a long head from tool kit. At the same time it is necessary to choose a head with 12 sides and a facet in an opening that the head contacted to a cap on a continuous circle.

17. Remove the directing plug from a core of the valve or put on a spring a cap if it was removed.
18. Establish a spring and a plate of the valve as it should be, the return to removal. Establish crackers by means of adaptation so that they rose in valve core pro-points. After installation of crackers strike with the hammer through a metal core a valve end face that crackers sat down on the place.

Prevention
If the crackers established with a distortion remain unrecorded, at launch of the rassukharivshiysya engine the valve will fail in the cylinder that will lead to serious failure of the engine.

19. Similarly replace oil scraper caps of other three valves of the 2nd cylinder and four valves of the 3rd cylinder.
20. Turn a bent shaft half way that in NMT pistons of the 1st and 4th cylinders were installed, and replace oil scraper caps of other valves.
21. Establish the removed details as it should be, the return to removal. After installation of camshafts and a belt of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism check and if necessary adjust gaps in the drive of valves (see. "Adjustment of gaps in the drive of valves").
