6.1.1. Features of a design

Install dry one-disk coupling with the central diaphragm spring (fig. 6.1) on the Ford Fusion cars equipped with the mechanical transmission.
Press the disk is mounted in the steel stamped casing 3 attached by six bolts to a flywheel of 1 engine. The conducted disk 2 is established on vents of a main shaft of the transmission and clamped by a diaphragm spring 4 between a flywheel and a press disk.

The bearing 2 (fig. 6.2) of switching off of coupling is structurally combined with the working cylinder 3 drives of switching off of coupling attached by three bolts 4 to a case of 1 coupling.

… and coupling pedals which arm is attached by nuts to a body front board. In a starting position the pedal is returned by a spring. The rod of the main cylinder of the drive of switching off of coupling is connected to a pedal a fork. The main cylinder is connected by a hose to the tank installed on the main brake cylinder (a tank the general for both main cylinders). In a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling brake fluid is used. Adjustment of the drive of switching off of coupling is not provided, possible only check of the course of a pedal of coupling with the purpose of definition of technical condition of coupling.

Useful tips
In order that coupling served long and smoothly, do not hold constantly a leg on a coupling pedal. This addiction is got often during driving instruction in driving schools for fear not to manage to switch off coupling during a car stop. Besides bystry fatigue of the leg which is all the time over a pedal, coupling appears though a little, but is squeezed out, at the same time the conducted disk revolves and wears out. Besides, in spite of the fact that the release bearing is also calculated on work in the mode of continuous rotation, it at the pedal pressed even slightly is under the raised loading and its resource decreases. For the same reason it is not recommended to keep long coupling in the switched-off state (for example, in traffic jams). If it is not necessary to start at once, to include neutral position of the transmission better and to release a pedal.
Pro-slipping of coupling can easily be defined by a tachometer. If during the movement by sharp pressing an accelerator pedal turns sharply grow, and then fall a little and the car begins to accelerate, coupling demands repair.
