11.14.2. Removal and installation of a safety cushion of the driver

The safety cushion of the driver should be removed at repair of elements of steering and electric equipment of the car. Therefore process of its removal and installation is described in this manual. However in order to avoid getting injured strictly adhere to the recommended sequence of work.
It will be required to you: TORX T15 key, the screw-driver with a flat edge.
1. Disconnect safety cushion module power supply, having taken out F39 safety lock (it is shown on a photo by an arrow) in the main unit located under the dashboard.

Preventions
The attempt of removal of the module of a safety cushion without shutdown of its power supply can lead to unexpected operation of a pillow.
It is possible to start the following operations on removal of a safety cushion only after the full category of the condenser of the activator. It is necessary for the category of the condenser after extraction of a safety lock from the assembly block to wait not less than 15 min.
Dismantling of the module of a safety cushion is forbidden.
Falling of the module of a safety cushion and hit on it of water, lubricant or oil is not allowed.
Impact on the module of a safety cushion of temperature above 95 °C is not allowed.

2. Remove the top part of a casing of a steering column (see. "Removal and installation of casings of a steering column").
3. From a reverse side of a steering wheel wring out a long thin core (for example, the screw-driver or a long key of TORX) through three windows in its nave the spring holder of the module of a safety cushion …

Places of the spring holder of the module of a safety cushion (it is for descriptive reasons shown on the module disconnected from a steering wheel), which it is necessary to press for removal of the module are so located.

4. … accurately raise the module, take away it from a nave of a steering wheel, turn out the screw of fastening of a wire of the switch of a sound signal to a nave of a steering wheel …
5. … also disconnect a wire.
6. Wring out the screw-driver a clamp of a block of a plait of wires of the module of a safety cushion …
7. … disconnect a block from a nave of a steering wheel and remove the module.
8. Establish a safety cushion as it should be, the return to removal.
