10.4.4. Charging of the rechargeable battery

The rechargeable battery removed from the car accurately clear, especially its top part, check the level of electrolyte and if necessary bring it to norm (if on the car the served rechargeable battery is installed).
The battery is charged at the turned-out traffic jams with the current making 10% of nominal rate of current of the rechargeable battery. The battery with a capacity of 54 And · is charged with current 5,4 A h. Exercises are done prior to plentiful gas emission and achievement of constant tension and density of electrolyte during 3 h. Density of electrolyte of the charged battery at 25 °C has to correspond to these tab. 10.5 for each climatic area.

When charging battery periodically check temperature of electrolyte and do not allow its increase over +40 °C. If temperature reaches +40 °C, it is necessary to reduce half charging current or to interrupt charging and to cool the battery to +27 °C.
Charging is stopped when plentiful liberation of gas in all elements of the battery begins, and tension and density of electrolyte recorded during the last three measurements (carry out in 1 h after shutdown of the battery), remain constants.
If at the end of charging the electrolyte density (determined taking into account the temperature amendment) differs from the value specified in tab. 10.5, then modify it. At the increased density select a part of electrolyte and add the distilled water. If density of electrolyte is lower than norm, then, having selected it from an element, add electrolyte of the increased density (1,4 g/cm3).
After adjustment of density of electrolyte continue battery charging within 30 min. for electrolyte hashing. Then switch-off the battery and in 30 min. measure electrolyte level in all elements. If the level of electrolyte appears below norm, add electrolyte which density corresponds to this climatic area. If the level of electrolyte is higher than norm, select surplus a rubber pear.
