6.2.4. Removal and installation of the transmission

The main malfunctions for which elimination it is necessary to remove the mechanical transmission from the car, the following:
– raised (in comparison with habitual) noise;
– the complicated gear shifting;
– spontaneous switching off or indistinct inclusion of transfers;
– leak of oil through consolidations and laying.
Besides, the transmission is removed for replacement of coupling, a flywheel and a back epiploon of a bent shaft of the engine.
The automatic transmission is removed practically for the same reasons, as a mechanical box, except for need of replacement of coupling and a flywheel which in this case are absent. Methods of removal and installation of mechanical and automatic transmissions are almost identical and described on the example of the mechanical transmission. The difference consists in sizes and quantity of cables of the drive of control of the transmission, and also available at the automatic transmission of the hoses of a hydraulic system connecting a box with a cooling radiator.

Useful tips
Work on removal and installation of the transmission very labor-consuming therefore be previously surely convinced that its malfunctions are not caused by other reasons (insufficient level of oil, defects of the drive of coupling, weakening of fastening of a box, etc.).
The transmission is quite heavy, and its form it is inconvenient for keeping therefore we recommend to remove it with the assistant.

It will be required to you: cap and face keys "on 8", "on 10", "on 13".
1. Remove an air inlet of the air filter (see. "Removal and installation of the air filter").
2. Remove the shelf of the rechargeable battery (see. "Removal and installation of the rechargeable battery").
3. Turn out three bolts of fastening of an arm of the shelf of the rechargeable battery …
4. … also remove an arm.
5. Disconnect cables of control of the transmission from the transmission (see. "Replacement of cables of control of the transmission").
6. Remove a gear shifting mechanism casing, having turned out three bolts of its fastening.
7. Merge oil from the transmission (see. "Replacement of oil in the transmission").
8. Remove drives of forward wheels (see. "Removal and installation of drives of forward wheels").
9. Disconnect a block of a plait of wires from the backing light switch (see. "Check and replacement of the switch of light of a backing").
10. Disconnect pipelines from the main cylinder of coupling (see. "Replacement of pipelines of a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling").
11. Disconnect the plastic holder of pipelines from an arm on the transmission.
12. Turn out two bolts of fastening of "mass" wires to a body and take wires aside.
13. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the plug of a "mass" wire to a transmission case …
14. … also take a wire aside.
15. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a case of the transmission to the engine from above at the left.
16. Turn off a nut of a hairpin of fastening of an assembly arm to a transmission case …
17. … also remove an assembly arm of fastening of pipelines (the hose of a supply of cooling liquid is for descriptive reasons removed).
18. Turn out a hairpin of fastening of a case of the transmission to the engine from above on the right (the hose of a supply of cooling liquid is for descriptive reasons removed) and take aside a "mass" wire.
19. Remove a starter (see. "Removal and installation of a starter").
20. Establish a reliable support under the engine or you will hang out it by means of the load-lifting mechanism. Establish a similar support under the transmission.
21. Remove the left support of the power unit (see. "Replacement of the left support of a suspension bracket of the power unit").
22. Turn out three bolts of fastening of an arm of the left support of the power unit …
23. … also remove an arm.
24. Remove a back support of the power unit (see. "Replacement of a back support of a suspension bracket of the power unit").
25. Turn out four bolts of fastening of the transmission to an oil case.
26. Turn out a bolt of forward …
27. … and two bolts of back fastening of the transmission to the engine.
28. Shift the transmission until an exit of a main shaft of a box from a nave of the conducted clutch plate back. Then shift a box as much as possible back, remove from under it a support and, having inclined a back part of a box down, remove from the car.

Prevention
At removal of the transmission not to an opirayta the end of a main shaft about petals of a diaphragm spring not to deform them.

29. Install the transmission, all removed details and knots as it should be, the return to removal.

Useful tips
Before installation of the transmission we recommend to grease vents of a main shaft with a thin layer of refractory jellied lubricant.
Check how the conducted clutch plate is centered, by means of a special mandrel (see. "Removal and installation of coupling").

30. Fill in oil in the transmission (see. "Replacement of oil in the transmission").
31. Remove air from a coupling switching off hydraulic actuator (see. "Pumping of a hydraulic actuator of switching off of coupling").
32. If necessary adjust the drive of control of the transmission (see. "Adjustment of the drive of control of the transmission").
